Editorial Illustration

this is an editorial illustration i did for a school assignment. 1-3 students were assigned to a historical essay penned by students at a different campus, so it was a collaboration between schools. the one i chose was about a 20th century eurasian photographer and the importance of his works. i chose not to post about this illustration on instagram because it's heavily tied to my real name and my school, but i can describe it lightly here.

editorial illustrations are clean and eye-catching, so i tried to use those elements in this piece. i consciously chose to use mainly red and blue to represent the uk and chinese flags; the blue is mainly in the shadows. the illustrated photographs surrounding the middle are the photographer's real works, just re-illustrated and simplified by me.

Rendezvous in the Rain

during this time, i was in japan. i took a manga drawing class while i was there. this is the chapter cover of my one-shot.

this was done mostly traditionally, and was touched with digitally with photoshop, paint tool sai, and clip studio paint. i could've done it all in csp, but i was still learning, so :,)

since this was an extremely busy time that didn't allow for much personal work, i am splitting up parts of this project and claiming them as my monthly illustrations. it counts, technically.

Page 7

this is the second to last page of the one-shot manga i made for my manga class during this time. it was sketched traditionally, then lined in paint tool sai. screentones were done in photoshop and clip studio paint.
